Desperate lawn mowing

Been away for a month and things are overgrown!
honda mower has a bent crank,so is difficult to start,the other mower can’t cope with the grass height,so in desperation I’m using this jockey wheel,it’s damn hard as the grounds full of holes and the wheels have a flat spot on each.
When this season’s over I’ll see if I can haggle for a discounted ride on.
I hate mowing!

@Screwdriver sorted the bent crank on my Honda engined mower with his flypress and a dial indicator, runs like a dream now

We just got a compact tractor and a small flail mower, it’s been a game changer

I had the same problem when I came back after 9 weeks away, grass was knee high to an elephant. I’ve now bought a robotic mower, it just gets on with it.

depending on how bent it is to get it going again you can bend it back with a bfg as a temp measure

blade off and boss off ,,, big pipe over crank end and a bit of leverage ,, ten mins and your up and going again.
try not to loose the woodruff key or whatevers in there though.

Kids are 7/7&12, they couldn’t drag this around,even I’m struggling.
ill have a go at the straightening without an engine split,I am wary of heat and damaging the seal.
@Cobbler ive looked at those but I’d have to do a lot of levelling to make our ground suitable,also our front garden is separated from the back by a patio and the old main road,so it may need two mowers?

or just rent something like this...home made.....it uses 5-6mmm string ....eats brambles...

Just get a cheap 2nd hand ride on, loads about that need the decks welding or non starters which is normally an easy fix, this was free and I would be ashamed to post pictures of what ive chopped down with it!

It'd have taken me longer to attach the flail to the little New Holland 1220 than it would have to mow that, mind you it does mow 4ft at a time

The price of a "new" ride-on you could get a decent little compact tractor and flail to go on the back. Been tempted to see if I can demo a finishing mower as now I've given up maintaining the Abbey ruins I don't need the flail as much.

worst case you knacker the seal but if the shaft bent the cost of new parts means better off buying 2nd hand mower

or keep eye out for honda isy the rot like hell but the engines are good and do an engine sawp do that in an hour only a few bolts

Exactly why I picked up a little Siromer 204 and a flail mower. I was mowing the paddock with a walk behind sythe and whilst it did the job it also did me in. 20 mins with the flail and it’s done

The one I’ve got is a MCulloch, my son found it half price old stock, I can PM you the eBay ad if you are interested. They work on a slope up to 30 degrees, as my garden is sloped I was concerned about this, but it copes ok. My son’s lawn Is split by the gravel drive, & the guide wires are run across & his mower seems to cope & trundle across. You may be able to pick it up & carry it across, but you would need to get the wires across for it to know where its going.
