Desk for my Lad

Hiya Lads & Lassie's
I have been decorating my lads room, he showed me the desk he wanted in a well known Swedish furniture magazine, after I came round on the floor after seeing the price I thought, bet i could make that,he is at performing art school and is well into radio and is planning setting up an internet radio doo daa don't ask I have no clue lol, I have enough box section and angle iron from a bed that I have been saving up to make one, Idea being to get a kitchen worktop off cut from the kitchen place by me (they sell em off cheap) in some funky colour etc, weld up the frame, voila a new desk custom made, my question is I have seen like plastic bungs that terminate box section making a nice finnish for the leg bottoms, anyone know where I can buy these please?, ooh and i got a tin of silver metal paint from aldi £4:99 they have it in at the moment if anyone needs some...

I bought some of those bungs on ebay, also got some adjustable feet for a sewing table I made for her indoors.
search for box section end cap.

Hijacking your thread but...Ive got a glass-topped desk and matching silver adjustable legs from that Swedish manufacturer which is about to go to the tip if anyone is after one. It looks like a design office type thing, quite smart. Its just clogging up my garage atm and im having a clear out..

I'm also gonna need welding clamps, can anyone recommend a half descent make please?, the ones I mean are like mole grips but are like a big "C" shape so you can grip wide things like 40mm box section together etc.

Banbury Plastic Fittings (http://www.bpfonline.co.uk/) ]have a great online shop and stock all of those odd little plastic fittings, especially desk fittings for cable and the like.

If he's doing audio, brace it well. Use neoprene foam in between the frame and the top, improves the sound and makes the annoying squeaks go away.

It may be worth building a dog box into it for all the cables to live in. Used to have them built into the consoles with multiplugs for breakout connections and to the core.

Use Teng at work, the one I have at home are Senator they both do what it says on the tin.

Does he have all of his kit yet? If he does try laying it out in different ways. It also my be useful to consider adding a 19" rack to the build.

Hiya Bump ooh thats a good idea, well so far I have got him a secondhand Samson MDR-6 mixer, just getting it bit by bit as I get the money, could you show me what you mean by a rack?, do you mean like a rack that guitarists have to put the effects in?, and thats a cool idea , had this stinking flu for the last three weeks, i do one job and I'm tattered, either that or I'm getting old lol, got the legs cut anyway.

Well I hit the man cave today with visor down, got the two end frames made up, and the equal angle cut, ready to weld the two end sections together, bump thanks for the tip on the neoprene, will source some, just as a side note here, my Autodark mask packed up Tuesday, just wanted to thank Steve at Weldequip (see top of page) who turned round a new LCD module, arrived this morning, thank you Steve , as always great service from a great guy, more pictures to follow, oh and since I got my leather welding jacket no burns!!! lol

I think tamworth steel can do the caps you want to go into the box section.im sure I seen a poster last time I was in there.
