Like the idea of using a rubber bung then filling an old exhaust with compressed air. Sounds fun. What's that technique called? Oh yeah, IED.
Compressed air will explode from a sealed vessel when it goes bang and when it goes, it really goes! As for using a rubber bung, you just reinvented the gun. Don't point it at anything you want to keep in one piece.
Water on the other hand is not compressible. You can pressurise it but it does not compress so the instant a crack, split or burst occurs, all of that pressure disappears.
The opposite is true for a vessel containing highly compressed air, when a crack or split occurs, your problems have only just begun. Even at 120 psi, all the air inside your compressor wants to be 8 times bigger and the instant it gets the chance to escape, it will tear couplings apart, rip through any cracked metal and fire anything in its way at very high velocity. Heavyweight hoses and fittings will flail around like a whip.
So really, just in case anyone finds this thread and wants to have a go: water safe and wet, air dangerous and deadly.
Have fun.
