That was my first thought, but dr google sorted me out (i was thinking of zigzag windings)That's wired as Star (not Wye)
so back to my original question, am i ready to connect the vfd?
correct.Motor name plate will help, they usually show the required connections for each voltage. I presume you mean a single phase vfd giving out 230v as opposed to a true 3 phase one giving 400v out?
the vfd hasnt arrived yet im afraid. Also what VFD do you have? It can be wired in Y, 4 wire Y or delta... what does the manual say?
In over 40 years of being in industry, I have never heard Star connection referred to as Wye - Everyday a school dayAre star and wye not one in the same?
Yes, as @Pete. says above, usually connected in delta for low voltage operation (can be different, I have an American motor with 9 wires that has an odd connection diagram but usually they are this way)correct.
so if i wire it delta i can connect it to a 220v vfd?
It's an Americanism I believe. In over 40 years of being in industry, I have never heard Star connection referred to as Wye - Everyday a school day
Depends upon the output voltageso back to my original question, am i ready to connect the vfd?
