Never had a problem with Hermes. Our local delivery girl is brilliant. Really nice too!
Hermes take a photo of the parcel when it is delivered, there is a GPS on their scanner and a copy of the photo along with the co-ordinates are uploaded to their website alongside a note of where physically it is, all notified to you in an email.
They all have this facility in reality and some of the excuses I have heard are classic. Fraserb and I have over four pages of communication over this fiasco. The second I found out it was DHL my heart sank, THESE are the reviews for one of the Depots, the rest are all the same around here.
I sent Brad a beautiful, unmarked Milling vice, proper English made thing, unmarked. Parcel Farce have lost it. I know why, it weighed 28klilos and someone has said "fek that!". It has really got my goat now, they are claiming because more than 30 days have gone past they can't help me. The only reason 30 days have gone past: They couldn't help me!! You couldn't make it up.
@outofthefire heard a brilliant one the other week from a DPD driver delivering to a neighbour. They mentioned they had a delivery from Hermes & straight away he said 'did it turn up in one piece?'
@fizzy I think there is two types of packaging required. One good enough to do the job & the second type is Hermes proof
Have you seen some footage from their sorting hubs? Parcels literally get thrown about

Well finally a long running(15 days) saga has came to an end, posted something to @northwest 15 days ago on next day delivery, it didn't turn up the next day but understandable given current circumstances, the following day they phoned to say they couldnt gain access to the property, this happened twice, they then said it would be the following monday they attempted delivery however come the monday they claimed theyd attempted delivery on the sat and sun and no access so they weren't delivering it any more, Tuesday it was back out for delivery, Wednesday they'd lost it and needed a description, Friday they'd found it and delivered it, not too the correct address but they claimed it had been delivered, Monday it was back in their warehouse but lost again, finally today it made it.
As a side note a different courier collected the second item I made and delivered it next day to the correct address no issues.
To be fair, under normal circumstances I would have helped out, but he burnt all his social consideration bridges the minute he entered my domain in such a manner.
It's not hard is it, not really. Be a sociable helpful enthusiastic (ok, the enthusiasm is optional) type person and people will help you out. Be an obnoxious loud Boor and, well, you won't be getting your delivery commission.
Simples.
