New owner delighted, my wife was greeting as it drove off.
My youngest is a bit miffed
.... but I guess the important thing is having something to do. Whether you actually do anything to it is irrelevant.
I have fancied a velocette since I was a spotty youth, much as I would have wanted a Thruxton then, an MSS appeals now. Was just chatting to a Norton owning friend yesterday, who was saying that he always wanted an 500 International, though realises now that an ES2 would better suit his riding style.I had not kept up either. Sorry to hear this. It is such a wrench to part with something that you have had for such a long time. I have had one of my LRs for 32 years, and although its derelict now, I still don't want to sell it. Another one, an '84 90V8 SW, had a front wheel taken off in 2013 and I have done nothing with it since and there are a couple more
Decide what is best for you. If you decide you can get without a job and the hassle that goes with it, then do it. I have, and I wouldn't go back.
My uncle bought himself a Velocette Venom when he retired, as he had one in his youth. Completely stripped and restored it. When he finished it, he couldn't kick it over to start it. So after all that, he sold it. Then did it all again with a Viper, which he converted to electric start. Only rode it half a dozen times, but I guess the important thing is having something to do. Whether you actually do anything to it is irrelevant.
