Decking.

I built over some old paving, I just stapled dpc to the joist and sat it on the old paving, I levelled it up and packed cement into the gaps at 6" ish spacing or sat it on bricks or bits of broken slab bedded into cement depending on the gap size.

Yeah this is the type of thing I am going to end up doing. I do have some 200 plastic packers and 50 wedges plus some old upvc strops. plus some strategic compo to help.if needed.

No just moved it further down while I lay the decking. Then there is decking going down there also.

We have been discussing this. The decking lads have said it will make no difference as it does not hold water and has drainage all round the edges and is also on a slight slope. and it's also under a roof. But yes it is raised up at least 5mm as a minimum.

I am also painting the timbers with old oil.

be carefull when its wet your likely to end up on your axx one of the worst thing i ever did putting that down think it will be coming up next year but it wont be wasted new shed me thinks.we also did it at my daughters her fella put a sighn up warning people so they cant claim if they slip

Mmmm I have heard differing reports about being forced slippy. Is one side less slippy than the other as my decking is double sided and I don't know which to use upwards.

I dont think it makes a scrap of difference, both sides are the same. Its fine when its new but if you let it get a bit of green stuff on it.. gawd its awful.

You can get some with grit on one side and if I was forced ( at Leatherman point ) to fit it I'd use that in high traffic areas like door steps etc.

Also, you have to leave expansion gaps, kids toys, house keys, credit cards know this!

If you feed the birds the mess gets under them and vermin move into the new holiday home but that does keep the cat entertained.

u can get stick in strips too for none slip

i spray bleach on then leave overnight then pressure wash it i did think about useing decking paint but thats a pia as you have to do it every year there is no top or bottom i think its just the size of the grooves
