Why wellies? Horrible things, havent worn a pair since I was a child.
I would suggest a decent pair of waterproof boots if mud and bogs.., unless your regually walking in deep faeces.
Agree. I do a lot of walking on the moors in winter time in my Aigles. Great boots. As comfy as my Brashers (the proper ones not what they are now) walking boots. I use the wellies in the cold and wet and walking boots in the drier warmer months. If you haven't worn them since a child I would suggest trying a modern pair. A pair of aigles for example have vibram soles and incredibly subtle rubber, realistically the best leather boots won't come close, the only advantage of walking boots is not as sweaty and better angle support.
I have aigles for walking the dogs and toe capped skellrups for work. Aigles are far more comfy, but the skellrups are a very serious pair of boots, I don't think anything comes close to them for sturdiness. I don't wear them all that often so no idea how long they will last but would be very disappointed if they fail as quickly as other brands. I have cut one of them on a sharp piece of rebar and they are still water proof due to multiple other layers of rubber
Our lot are mainly Bekina, some of them have noras as well, both last a similar time and they get a lot of use with the dairy lads.

See. I'd be in my Aigles for your serious stuff and just replace them more frequently!A good pair of waterproof boots are a little like hens teeth.
I have spent reasonable money (£100+) on boots that are great for 3 months, then start letting water in.
Now I use Aigles for really wet, or casual wet walks.
For serious stuff (Beating etc) where I need ankle support, I'll wear a pair of British army boots and gaiters. Not comfy. Not waterproof, but don't let too much in, and I know they will just shrug off the thorns/brambles/rocks/tree roots.
Which do you use @Kram ?
Horses for courses. My Aigles are comfortable, and waterproof but don't really offer ankle support.See. I'd be in my Aigles for your serious stuff and just replace them more frequently!
Fair enough. I know what you mean. I guess my comparison is my walking boots which will be less ankly supportive than your army ones.Horses for courses. My Aigles are comfortable, and waterproof but don't really offer ankle support.
Bugger never noticed that bit, big socks it is!They arent neoprene lined though??
I have the parcours iso same as some of the others above and mine get a hard life. Had 7 years out of one pair. Less out of the recent ones but still a decent time compared to cheapies and crappy chameauxs.
3 maybe 4 pairs of them, they split right behind where the toes start, ie where they flex the most.Nobody wearing Muck Boots anymore?
Always used to get good reviews.
I'll go with you in my Aldi steel toed ones from a good few years ago for a tenneriln stick with my arco wellies 22 quid![]()
I don't do any mountain climbing - so use wellies for dog walking on wet and muddy ground - washing cars down - gardening and slushy melting snow (splashing in puddles).
So nothing has changed for 50+ years I been wearing wellies.
Neoprene lined ones are the big step forward. I been having brown Aigle ones.
Wifey like every other middle aged woman has a thing about expensive wellies - she got some leather lined French things and I doubt she only got one pair of them either. But she does take the dogs for walk when I can't - she does wash cars down - she does do gardening with the grandkids - so they are not a waste of money.

Sold a car to social worker a few weeks ago from my house - she came into our kitchen thru our back porch to do the paper work - she commented on the pile of kids and adults wellies in our back porch and said and I quote "pile of muddy wellies from adults to kids sizes piled up by the back door is a good sign to any social worker - means parents and grandparents are doing things with the kids in there care".
You should have replied with "well if they don't work they don't eat"![]()
