Decent quality welly boots, any recommendations>

Wanted decent quality welly boots, must be neoprene lined for winter use, only used for dog walking, currently getting 6 to 8 months out of 90 quid wellies not impressed at all, all fail the same way and split where they flex when walking, only walk a mile or two a day 365 days a year, mainly grass path, sometimes branbles and tall weeds etc

Hoggs Of Fife field pro split at the side of the foot, as did their replacements.
Le Chameau split same as Hoggs.
Current ones are Fencham, and the rear calf has just split, noticed with great mirth by my wife!

My original Hunters were brilliant- eventually wore the soles out - but recent ones seem poorer quality.
Currently have Aigle - seem Ok - daily use 5 years on and still watertight but starting to wear on the lining - not the same distance as you walk though

Can I ask which Aigle model you have?

I use the aigles on the right with thick socks , brilliant ,comfort and longevity.

I’ve tried nearly every brand under the sun including aigle and I’ve never got 2 years out of a pair. I probably could look after them better I tend to leave them outside by the door which apparently isn’t good for natural rubber, also you can get wellington rubber conditioner which is ment to help preserve them but I always forget to use it

Looking at them again (I normally don’t I just pull them on) they haven’t worn too badly

Another vote for aigle, I’ve got the parcours ones, very warm - too warm for summer if anything, I’ve worn them in snow with thin socks on and my feet are toasty warm.

I’d get another pair

I have the parcours iso same as some of the others above and mine get a hard life. Had 7 years out of one pair. Less out of the recent ones but still a decent time compared to cheapies and crappy chameauxs.

Tried a pair once and they were too tight around the calf - which quickly irritated my skin when they rubbed my trousers against it. Curious really, as I don't have particularly wide calves.

Got one pair at home and one up the workshop.

Always used to have Hunter wellies - till @James1979 talked me into Aigle ones...

I use Grub boots which are basically the same. Worn daily for dog walking unless the temps are above 20c and they get too warm for comfort
