Decent quality Trolley Jack

I had a 1.5 ton Bradbury Jackette which served me well for over 25 years. When it eventually failed with a score down the lifting cylinder I bought a Clarke 2 ton Jack to replace it.
It has only had light use for diy repairs over the last 5 years & now it is playing up & wont lift its full stroke.
Anybody recommend a good & hopefully more long lived replacement, ideally with a low access front height like the Bradbury Jackette.

have u checked the oil level....? they r often shipped at a low leval to start with........

anyway, My Bradbury Jackette got nicked and I replaced it with a Halfords 2 tonner and a couple of axle stands.......
they r still going strong some 30 years later ....and get reg use.........
if I had to do it again I think I'd buy the Ally version now......just cant lift em into the van anymore without struggling....

nice to use. No 2 son has one.

Otherwise Halfords is as good as any.

Always assuming yours doesn't just need topping up and bleeding.

I have always bought Weber UK trolley jacks and bottle jacks. They have been good... Lasted years...


But in the last few years - I wanted a real low entry trolley jack - and I bought one from SGS - it has been good - we have had it well over 12 months and had no problems with it...

Keep an eye out for another Bradbury, nothing else comes close. Chances are it may have been possible to get the cylinder sleeved ? I brought mine new in 1976 , used it daily for years and still going strong

I have Weber 2ton trolley jack from 1983 - still going strong - no repairs as yet.

But it does not go down far enuf for modern cars for a sill lift....

Another plus 1 for sgs. Dam heavy for lifting about but do the job. I also have an arcan one (originalyl available in costco). Basically the same as the sgs. 3 ton, Quick lift and lifts pretty high. paid around £100 for each of them from memory.

Go through 6 a year all lifting close to max, most modern cheap ones are all crap, early Halford were good but gave up on them a year or so ago, they changed to a Chinese clone I think, sgs have had varying degrees of success, I always get 3t, one of the sgs one snapped the yoke which pushes the piston, that was bad, nothing really stands out as a recommendation, just about to try costco, can tell you if it's still alive in 3month.

These are used constantly so for part time use all may be fine for you.

Iv seen the apprentice drop it out the back of the race truck and it still worked.

the main workshop they used to use them to slide cars around as all of the cars we worked on had awful steering lock

The second I had some one drop it into my car at the skips.

The third I was given. I did it up and it is being used in a MIS.
