Decent hose connectors

Any recommendations for a decent hose connector that doesn't leak?
I have hoselock connecting my power washer but it's always dripping.
Have my power washer inside the garage with a long high pressure hose to use outside. Fed up with the floor getting wet when using it.

The O rings on hozelock will attract dirt. Clean or replace them.

What spigot is on the other side of your Hozelock connector ..if it's no Hozelock change it to one . I've used them for trhe last 17 years after setting up my time clocked micro misting watering for hanging baskets , green house and garden beds where I use seven time clocks as well as one on my power washer , on both garden taps and on the greenhouse spray lance pipe .
As has been said get the correct size O rings fitted , then use silicone grease to lubricate the spigots so the rings can slip 7 slide in the recesses to make water tight seals .

IIRC I put up a post giving the size of the seals from Bearing boys several years ago , around £2.7 for a pack of ten , seem to recall they are imperial sizes not metric too.
I did find however that natural degradation over 10 or so years made the sleeves brittle and the jaws in the female connectors became worn resulting in the connections popping apart .

As a result of getting on for 10 years of buying failures for my watering systems , this last 17 years I only get my Hozelock fittings & Hozelock water clock timers from Garden Insane .......... B&Q do not appear to be of the same quality despite having the same looking card backs in the packages .

What spigot is on the other side of your Hozelock connector ..if it's no Hozelock change it to one . There are a multitude of seals available wonder are they all decent or would you recommend the ones you bought?

I only use Neoprene O ring seals .

If you have a digital caliper measure the diameter in mm then flick to inches and look for the next nearest size up which will be a few thou.
For thickness remove a seal and measure thickness of the width of the groove not the O ring as it will be worn .

Proof of the pudding write down your new OD and subtract twice the thickness measurement , it should give you the exact new O ring size.

Good post Ardy something I forgot to mention .
Adding to that ...... give the males a spray with silicone spray and a wipe with clean lint free cloth then another light spray . Females are a bit different . Any I've been daft enough to leave disconnected laying on the ground get all manner of crud & bugs in them.
So I took to using a jug of top end of hand hot soapy water to give them a three minute soaking , then rinsed them out at the outside taps using a hose spray nozzle to flush any loosened crud & grit out . Give them a shake to remove the water check you have removes spiders eggs nests , chrysalis & other miscellaneous cocoons etc. then silicone spray them & connect them up .

Other than the screw holding the retaining button coming loose and falling apart, I've found the Aldi brass ones to be pretty good. Left outside, on the floor all year round - quick flush through then connect up - seem to work.

Ive always used nito couplings and probes specifically 1/2" versions. They are available in different configurations, usually fit 3/4" female on the machine and use a 1/2"-3/4" probe in the hose. The probes will eventually wear if dragged on the floor and repeated disconnects.

I've got those grey and red ones. Gardina or somthing. They're part metal.

Seems better than the hose lock ones.

In the early days of setting up my auto watering I had a lot that were badly machined on the male spigots some were missing almost 0.6 mm at the raised locking lip ring , the slightest movement saw a hose under pressure often fly apart which was rather annoying as it usually happened adjacent to my freshly laid and floated concrete paths or pond work & shed bases etc.

Water pressure here is something like 5 bar, not had an Aldi one come apart when working and connected. Had o-rings fail due to my storage methods, which in guess also doesnt help keep the screw in the side keeping the retaining collar retained. I buy them when I need them, although I think I've replaced all my hose reels, extensions, outside tap and power washer(s).

Had to create something to allow one to be fitted toma Hozelock hosereel as that had one moulded in from poor memory.

I am slowly switching over to the brass ones from lidl. Much more durable than thevplastic ones and dont go brittle through time like the plastic ones.

Ditto. Years ago I bought a 100 pack of Hozelock o-rings and have used about a handful of them. They seem good for non-leakiness and longevity.
I find the Aldi brass sets that get sold every so often are far superior and don't object to getting run over, either.

Bought a set of 72 washers on Amazon. Will try some of them with a little red rubber grease.
