Bin those aldi ones, as well as eating batteries they will start giving spurious readingsi have the aldi ones but the batteries keep going flat
Oh my mate has a set with a dial gauge on them not digital at all but they look great, do I need those?
I treat the one I have on the lathes tailstock the same way, it comes on when moved so eats batteries.Personally I never leave the batteries in either of my cheap digital verniers.
I just flip them out when I've finished using with them. They always live in their boxes, as do the batteries when removed. I think I've only ever changed 1 battery in 20yrs.
Thrown a good number of that sort away, and now use a Mitutoyo dial caliper instead, which is reliable, accurate, and trustworthy.Bin those aldi ones, as well as eating batteries they will start giving spurious readings
Yes, but your eyes don't, or at least their performance doesn't. Before you know it you'll need a magnifying glass, or a vernier with one built inVernier scale for me. I hate digital stuff. Batteries go flat and I’m always convinced they’re not accurate as there’s so much more to go wrong. Vernier callipers are accurate and last a lifetime.
None of the digital calipers actually turn off completely, since there has to be at least some circuitry active to sense the on/off button being pressed.I am after a decent set of the above, any recomendations?
Not mega money, they must turn off completly with the off button! I am sick of replacing the batteries in the current sets I have. Apparently they dont actually ever turn off completly so the batteries drain!
Comes in a wooden box you can strap to your hip for convenience..and full auto..?![]()
As recommended by young Mr Churchill too...Comes in a wooden box you can strap to your hip for convenience![]()
I also have one of these - along with a genuine Mitutoyo and an expensive TESA. To be honest I use this one day to day. It is almost perfect.I bought my lad one of these from Zoro for his 3D printing dabblings and it's been excellent. Doesn't switch on the drop of a hat, you have to switch it on. Also takes a 2032 battery rather than those naff LR44 types:
