Can anyone recommend a decent anti-stone chip paint that comes in aerosols ? I have to do the underside of two motorcycle mudguards, but don't want to faff around with cleaning the gun and all that.
No. Was a toss up between gravitex and 3m when I was looking. Went for Gravitex due to the recommendations on here but the 3m stuff is supposed to be good too.
I think the only problem with aerosol is the product has a lot of thinner in it so you get very very thin coats from it in comparison to using schutz gun
I've found the same as the snooper, none of the aerosols I've tried have impressed me compared to using a shutz gun. I've seen cheap shutz guns for less than €10 in motor factors before.
I was very impressed with Gravitex when I sprayed it on with my little compressor. It isn't that thick in the bottle - you might be able to stipple it on with a thick brush and do a few coats. Will take longer than an aerosol but cheaper.
The makers of Gravitex also do an aerosol called Graviguard, though I've not used it myself :
Yeah Griviguard is OK and it will over paint with 2K without reaction, it's basically Graitex but in aerosol. Had a terrible experience with the hammerite stone chip, had to strip the lot as it reacted with overcoats.
I tell you what is even better though - tiger seal when spread
