Decals and Paint?

Just wondering what is the best way Paint and apply Decals.

Is it best to do COB or 2K ( or does it rely matter )

If COB would you need to finish the base then clear and after that apply decals and clear over again? ( So the Thinners from the base don't crinkle or effect the decals )

If 2K then I would guess if clearing over the decals you would have to do the whole panel with clear?

Off the subject, got a petrol tank that has a small dent as if a screwdriver hit it, small amount of filler going to be ok and survive, cannot see no way of tapping the dent out as it goes into the tank.

Vinyl decals?if you want them lacquered in(always best on a motorbike) then cob is easy..base colour..apply decal then clear everything.Filler will be ok in the tank..dont forget to watch those sparks if your grinding the surface for prep

You have to use COB, If you use straight paint you won't see them !!!

As Danny said apply the decal to the basecoat and apply 1 dry coat of clear, this won't wrinkle anything, then lacquer as normal. I use a lacquer that needs no thinner which makes the job even easier.

I had it in my mind that because of the Base coat being a thinner/paint mix that the decals may crinkle when layed on top. Glad I asked now before I bought paint.
