excuse the title,i thought it might attract some help, any nature experts on here-most of the frogs in our pond are dead 70-100 probably,some are in the mating position but most scattered all on the bottom some in pieces could it be a mass orgy /exhaustion,also the clusters of spawn have disappeared.the pond is brook fed & in a low pollution area as its just livestock farming area .we had sudden flooding on easter monday which caused the floating spawn to sink to the pond bed,could this be connected?

Flooding may have brought a lot of nitrates/phosphates into the pond? From either animal dung or more likely a recent application of nitrate fertiliser. The hit of nitrogen can cause plant life to go bonkers and as it dies, the resulting decay depletes the oxygen in the water.
Dunno, I'd imagine frogs, being able to get out and breathe out of the water would give them some kind of resilience, but it's an idea.

We've had virtually the whole of Cheshire and Wirral designated an NVZ. Eutrophication is an issue.
