Thanks to everyone who helped me sort my spray issues. I've now got all the coats on and it's looking good, the colour coat came out smooth, then did the clearcoat and the orange peel is acceptable, the finish is sweet.
But I got some fairly serious runs on my sills. I just went too slow on the sills. I know about the sanding techniques using mini blocks to remove runs and working from 800 grit through to 2500 grit and then polishing.
My question is, if despite my best efforts I cut through the clearcoat, can I still save it without respraying the whole panel? E.g. use a mini gun to put colour coat onto the area where I've gone through then more clearcoat and wet and dry to hide the repair? Or is it not that simple?
