there not that clever if u have a Larson trap and a call bird .I caught 27 one year . sometimes u have to give nature a hand and keep a fair balance . I like small birds in garden

Think i might have to look at something similar this year, getting more and more of them around hear, they have had eggs and chicks from nests in garden this year don't think anything survived. Black birds gave them all they had in return but size wise its not a fair fight.

crows are intelegent if 2 people go in to the woods and hide with guns they all fly out. they wont come back till they see u walk out .if one of u hides and stays in they still know and wont return till u leave

The cleverest crows actually use up to 3 tools to solve a problem. In some tests they were putting stones into a beaker full of water to raise the water level . Amazing stuff really

I kept a young Jackdaw as a pet for a Summer when I was a teenager some 40 years ago and a mate had a Magpie which he trained to talk. For about 18 months or so I have be considering keeping both a Magpie and a Jay. Although my aviary went when I sold my Red Tail Hawks and Saker Falcons 5 years ago (see photos in my FB gallery) I really do fancy keeping some birds again..................... and I do have a fair amount of galvo mesh left over from some recent pond cover jobs.

Magpies are no great shakes aggresion wise they ain't even as bad as an old cock pheasant to handle. Crows are pure evil though
You can't really compare the two. Magpies are heavily predated by crows on thier own nests
The magpie is only a menace to the nests of song birds.

Crows are so clever they are probably gathering them up to build a catapult to smash a window to get your sandwiches.

We have 5 breeding pairs of Buzzards very near my house...watching them fly and glide about screeching to each other is really cool and i always run for my binocs when i hear it...On another note but still birdy/nature related,has anyone noticed how aggresive the magpies are this year?? they keep dragging the young birds out the nests around my parts and other people have noticed in there area too how aggresive they are

Maggies always do that for food, especially at nesting time. Take eggs also.

I did the same when I was a lad, hand reared a Jackdaw. Our back yard backed onto a church, I used to let it out before going to school and called it down when returning home in the afternoon, always there waiting. Unfortunately a neighbours dog killed it when it went down for a drink.

that's a shame we have blackies nesting in our hedge and in my mobile compressor and in the garage they run the gauntlet with my whippet in my field . hese had the odd tail feather out of them when they take off . he jumps and snaps at em
