that sounds familiar with what i got and most car batteries seem to be around 15kg obviously some are less and some more

A local farmer took a load of scrap in and thought he was quids in as the trailer was half full of water. No, took account of the water being in the back and deducted it from the weight. His face was a picture seemingly!

our local scrappys allways find something to put a dedution on for. and with prices as they are now there is no point even giveing a monkey about the price.

everything just gets wanged in one skip all mixed up, don't get nothing for it but it means only one skip and not haveign to give a monkeys think quite a few places are doing the same now as well.

ive seen skips partly full of mixed ali and steel swarf with stainless pipe wanged in followed by various diffrent sheet and beam offcuts allong with all the general floor sweepings

you say that, but the tracker above is giving the same price for batteries as i thought (but have not checked) that it was doing last time i weighted in (which would have been last year)

however, i know that light iron is a tiny fraction of what it was.

what im saying is that i dont believe that non-ferrous has been hit in nearly the same way.

...ive just looked, and it seems that, whilst copper took a bit of a hit last year, we're still only talking percentages, not multiples, like ferrous.

things like aluminium seemed pretty stable all year.

We used to smash the old batteries with lump hammers where it was safe, take the lead plates out remelt the lead and mold it as fishing sinkers. Don't think there is even so much lead in the batteries now as there used to be

Never heard of that, more pc green crap ? I do know lead shot is banned over wetlands.

Lead shot that you clip on the line was an issue at some time in case of swans swallowing any left lying around, but our sinkers were about 8oz, used on hand lines towed behind a boat in the sea.

Any sea tackle place has hundreds of lead sinkers.
