Dead Biax society...

Bugger, ******** and **Language**it. My biax (which even used cost me a small fortune), has never felt quite right - slowing down occasionally, and sometimes even getting really hot in minutes. Last time I used it it slowed down quite a lot, a wiggle on the cable told me there was a break in the cable at the back. I tried it briefly tonight and it made a horrible squeeling noise, slowed right down and as I stopped it there was a hot insulation smell.
Anyway, I found the cable issue, but I need to get into the gearbox. Everything looks ok at the back, and inside the swash plate.
My guess is there is one nut under the swash plate, the other two I can see but can't access. So what's the trick to get it off? I'm thinking maybe make an adapter out of an old socket and hit it with the impact gun?

Please post the model number.

I guess your search failed to find any manuals/exploded diagrams? Did the manufacturer respond to the polite email you sent? When you searched through the 'Machine Reconditioning' sub-forum at Practical Machinist, were there no useful hits? That forum is your highest chance of finding someone who knows your machine.

I get your point @Agroshield , truth is I was too peed off last night to send any emails. But by today, things are allready looking up. Shame is though, it's another thing in bits wanting my time before I move on to the other things in bits that I need this one for....

If it's a blue one then check the fan on the motor. Mine was loose on the shaft and I had to glue it back on.

I’ve ordered Biax blades through AE tools in the past, if you can find a part number I’m sure they would try to help.

I think that a guy in America made some of those phenolic gears. I'll see if I can find the details.

Apparently what breaks them is catching the leading edge with the blade, it kicks the tool back violently and also busts the gear.

And bloomin small....

I could 3d print if for you but wont be very strong.
Perhaps 3d print and then use it as a former. Cast it from metal filled epoxy or aluminium.

Interesting. Mine is worn out, not long to go before the teeth start dissapearing...
Making one will be difficult - i would need my "new" horizontal universal miller working, and it's not even here yet, as well as making a gismo to turn the dividing head, and a miniature gear cutter... big mountain to climb.

On a 4 axis cheap Chinese router you could make these for an hours rate!
