DC Tig

Hi,Most knowledgable guys,(thats the brown nose bit out of the way) can I weld a stainless steel exhaust with a dc tig and what gas do i need please? Also I have to bear in mind that it is on a motorcycle so needs to be presentable.As an after thought can it be gas welded?

Don't know about gas welding, but you can DC TIG s/s no problem. Use pure argon as your shield. If you haven't done it before have a practice on some scrap till you get it right since you want it presentable. You can get really good results with a bit of patience.

Yes, dc tig with a thoriated red tip tungstens, and pure argon.

Take the time to get all the parts to fit perfectly, they you should be able to weld it with no filler rod. This will give you a very good looking weld even for a beginner. The technique is called autogenous welding btw.
