Well i am trying to be good, smaller portions, cut back on beer etc etc.
But my wife is doing the election as a presciding officer tommorow so what will i do?
It will be a trip to our local Turkish grocers for some of his lovely flatbread & condiments, then a mixed special kebab from our local emporium.
Followed by a few beers at the yacht club. Back on the wagon afterwards!

No matter how hard i try i just can't get below 19 stone, eating so little that you can't stand up straight and still roofing every day at 62 up and down the sticks carrying stuff too (normally get the young lads doing that). I have always been big all my life, 6ft 3" and size 13 boots so i am going to just chill out now and be happy with what i have, still eat sensible but not be hungry all the time as it's all pointless it seems by natural design

After discovering I'm the heaviest I've ever been, 10kg overweight, I've gone back to to using MyFitnessPal linked to my Garmin watch to help with weight loss. I've set a target of 0.5kg a week, but expect to lose a bit more to begin with.

MyFitnessPal then records all your food (barcode, picture, recipe, search, it remembers your usual foods) and understands how much exercise you have undertaken that day from the link to my watch and adjusts your daily calorie target accordingly.

So, if I just sat on my bum, I would be allowed 1500 calories. But today I've been doing DIY and taken the dog on a couple of decent walks and have earned an extra 606 calories so far. So, if I didn't do anything else today, I would have a 2106 calorie target.

Breakfast was a 3 egg omelette, spinach and peppers, 350 calories. Lunch a co-op Chicken Vindaloo with spinach and asparagus, 390 calories (I was surprised at that, but portions are minute) and dinner a chicken and veg risotto 204 calories, Snacks, a banana and 2 squares, of 85% dark choc, 230 calories. So I've got 832 calories left, and I have taken the dog for her evening constitutional yet. I'll probably have some fruit and yoghurt later but I'll still be well under budget which isn't good, a little is fine. I'll find some more healthy snacks to eat. Before I was using the "spare" calories to drink beer

I try to avoid refined carbs but if its what the family is having for dinner, then I'll follow suit. I'm only allowed beer when I'm out and about, so next Wednesday I'm going to the WMC with some neighbours and I have a 60th birthday party to go to next weekend.

I totally agree. I have tried to shift the weight I have put on. Something is going to kill me but I have decided I am not going to die hungry

Just be cause you estimate you can have another six hundre calories etc etc that will maintain your weight .....you don't have to have them , nor the sweetened drink or beer etc. Having a glass of clean plain cool water will fill your gut and helps wash the hunger acid triggers away .
The freestyle 2 sugar diabetes monitoring system has allowed me to be careful what I have and keep my blood sugars with in the 3 to 7m.mol range which stops me putting on fluctuating diabetic weight and having a lot of water retention. I have five or six small meals a day instead of the usual three . So I burn off the smaller amounts of calories instead of forcing my blood cells to swell and take on the over load of unused sugars in the food .

I just so happens I'm drinking a glass of water while reading this I never drink pop, and very rarely juice. It's unsweetened tea or coffee, water or beer for me. Beer is out until next Wednesday so water it is.

I'm contemplating an avocado as late night snack as I'm hungry and at 240 calories it leaves me still 500 calories ahead of my target.

I almost gave up a few days ago, Sunday. I had a full English for lunch, planning to eat nothing more for the rest of the day.

Then my daughter asked me out to dinner, so I can't refuse my baby.

I had a pizza.

Then she can't face her chicken burger and chips as she is bunged up with man flu....

.....so guess who ate that... on top of a big greasy pepperoni pizza, and a full english.

Next day I was mortified to have gained 3kg...... felt awful all day.... but today I was back to 101.8 again. Still down 9kg on my start weight, but like Roofman finds, there seems to be a set-in-stone lower weight limit, no matter how much I starve myself.

However, I'm sleeping so much better, no sleep apnoea stuff, and not feeling that horrible debilitating anxiety all day, now my food and drink intake has been all but halved.

My problem is the beer. Liquid sugar.... but it's the one thing I look forward to of an evening. Without that to relish, while watching TV of an evening, I don't have a great deal to get me through my day.

I can keep busy during daylight hours, usually, bike night, riding around etc, but going home to an empty house in the evening tends to hit me like a wet kipper in the face.
It's two years since my daughter moved out, but some days I still walk in the front door and call out that I'm home.....then realise there's nobody to reply.

Biscuits are my problem. If there are none about, I do not think about it, but if I do know they are there, I can't leave them alone until they are gone.
Whole packet of chocolate Hobnobs with a cup of tea this afternoon. Mind you, I have to admit I am "only" 14 stone. Best think I did was give up drinking. I have not touched much at all since 1984. Long story, but I couldnt even get out of bed in the morning without a drink. Two bottles of Pernod a day. All ended badly, as it always does. Drink driving, and finally ended up in an alleyway asleep, and woken by being pi**ed on by another drunkard. Seemed funny at the time, but that was the final straw. I just stopped.

Hate Sweetcorn, Advocados, and Olives. Yuk ! OH is also on election duties early till late tomorrow, so its off to the kebab shop for me.

All ended badly, as it always does. Drink driving, and finally ended up in an alleyway asleep, and woken by being pi**ed on by another drunkard. Seemed funny at the time, but that was the final straw. I just stopped.

My lowest point was spending several days in jail in Thailand, in a communal cell block with one 'squat and squirt' crapper in the centre of the cell block, no walls, no privacy..
Maybe 100 people in cages round the central crapper....

Unbelievably, I didn't need to take a dump in the 3 days I was in there. I think dehydration, and fear, blocked me up.

There were some seriously scary Thai guys in my cell area, covered in knife scars and tattoos. I could speak and read/write fairly passable Thai back then, and unbelievably these guys had a fair amount of respect for a farang who could speak their language. I read out a couple of letters to one of the scary guys, as most Thais can't even read their own written language, let alone write it. I think that bought me some kudos.

They gave me water, some food, and no aggression at all.

Eventually the cops came and offered me a deal, 10,000 baht and I was out.

To this day I have no idea why I ended up there, no recollection of arrest. The cops tell me I refused to pay a £50 bar bill, 3000 baht, but I rarely had more than one beer in any bar at a time, so I guess they just found me falling about drunk and saw a cash cow.

It didn't stop me drinking though, but that experience has always been at the back of my mind whenever I'm 'tying one on'.

Well mate... I shed about 0.75kg a week so far.

Doing nothing dramatic either to achieve this weight loss.

1. When dog walking - I just take the dog further daily - this has been easy as the weather is better..
2. Drinking beer still - but just having about half of the normal intake.
3. Went out for Thai meal last week - I did not have starters. I drove - so had diet coke instead of three pints of beer and a taxi.
4. And yes salad for lunches.

Been refusing all the treats people give me - dougnuts - biscuits - ice creams - chocolate bars.

The only thing I really struggled with is: Sandwiches - I normally make myself two (four slices of bread) at a time. One single sandwich - cut in half - on a plate - just does not look enough.

Been contemplating walking to work daily - workshop is only 1.5miles from my house - but not managed this - it has either rained - or I have errands to to run and need a car - customers cars/parts to fetch en route or I have just not had time. This has annoyed me a bit - as it only takes me 35mins to walk to work and it must take 15mins to take a car or my little Honda scooter.

I'm slightly taller, & I'm well aware I'm carting too much and put weight on in recent months.
I haven't weighed, but previous history tells I'm comfortably over 80kg / 13st.
I know I can be at 12.5st just by cutting back a bit and moving a bit more..... but I've got down 3-years-ago to under 12st.(just) - which is where I really should be.

At my age (nearly 59) I'm in & have long been in pretty reasonable shape / fitness / health .... but if I tried to exercise weight off, I'd get too tired first, and unable to sustain the high output.

Whether we like it or not - the real problem is this:

"The inlet hole at the top - is bigger than the outlet hole at the bottom"

Too much food (often with way too much sugar & refined fats etc). Pretty much any "ready meal" or "fast food" (even so-called lo-cal ones) will stall any effort to get a bit leaner.

I'm fond of the saying "only by eating junk food is it possible to die of malnutrition & obesity at the same time".

A super-fit, lean, retired over-65yo ex-Army PT & unarmed-combat instructor I worked with for a while put it simply - "you can eat pretty much any (proper) food you want to - you just cannot eat too much of it".

All sounds like an experience you could have done without ! I guess you are right about being a cash cow, certainly sounds like it, and is fairly normal in SE Asia. I lived in the Philippines for a bit, and they seem to think all westerners are rich Americans, at least they did back then !

There are some seriously scary looking guys there too, but I never had a peep of bother from any of them, only curiosity.
