How the other side of it: What are my rights not to have my info given to any random that asks for it?

I'm most surprised there's no mention of responsibilities either.

the rights are there on an incoming phonecall on an outgoing phonecall from the police or attending officer then this if info can be supplied

however the link provided is for when the police say pay up if you want the info

when infact theres no pay up for this info, not for the accident victim.

on another note ive never read where this income is going if it is provided to an insurance company then they would be making enough to provide details of this income and to provide where its going

it usually goes to the safety partnership. Which is normally Police, Council and whoever else. That is minus the running costs that it costs the Police. The collision unit is self funding or some such. No they don’t get a bonus and aren’t allowed to make a profit but they are allowed to charge a set amount to perform the tasks that are outside their policing remit.

The fees are quite high but it’s the legal system so stuff always costs loads more than it would anywhere else! The rates are available on request. You can buy the collision documents if you want (as long as you have a cause) but even for a minor non injury it’ll be a few hundred once it’s all added up. For a fatal it can be many thousands.
