I've done quite a lot of work to my home over the last couple of years, part of which was a rewire. I decided that I'd run data and AV cables throughout from a central point (under the stairs). So there are now six rooms with one HMDI, two Cat 5e and two shielded Sat cables running to face plate outlets ready for whatever to be plugged in.
So my question is regarding the best way to deal with this lot under the stairs. I can move the (currently Virgin) broadband hub under there but I then need to distribute it. A patch panel seems to be part of the solution, but I'd like to be able to connect one or more of each cable simultaneously as required.
I'd also pondered using a server for video but that seems too much faff with streaming available.
The idea was it may as well be done and would provide a secure network over which pretty much whatever is required could be sent.
