Dangerous tools from the past

Going from another current thread i thought ide start a new one about tools we have used in the past and been lucky to survive or still have our limbs intact.....this is one tool that i hated using every time i got it out,if it jammed there was a very high risk of it snapping your wrist with your hand stuck inside the handle

there more dangerous for left handed people note the little button to hold the power on once the trigger is pulled .if the drill bites and spins it automaticaly locks the drill in a running position even when u let go of the trigger i used to cut the head of them for safety reasons most works wouldnt allow them to be used

I have a pair of good quality Wooden ladders that I remember my dad buying around 1980, they below me now, and are as strong as the day he bought them. I don't think you would say same of an ali pair of the same age.

I'm still using the pair of ally ladders that I bought to sort my first house in 1973 - still sound except that the rubber ends are rather loose - but then I bought an expensive one at the time

Got three wolf drills at work! We use one for core drilling no clutch!

not realy a good idea .specialy on the 5 inch core drills

wooden ladders are far nicer to weld off, never forget welding off an aluminium one putting up a lean too shed, i was welding on cleats, and the ladder at least 6" deep in water nearly fryed from the shocks, always raining over here always

The real beauty of wooden ladders, (always wondered why my dad still uses them, until one cold day when I was working with him), is that they don't numb your hands like ally ladders. Wear gloves, (I can hear the responses already ). They're not much use when you're phaffing about with small nuts and bolts, or other small bits, whilst up the ladders.

On the drill front, still have one of the old Wolf gut-busters here. A little D-handle hand held Siemens-Schuckert is another one which is just as bad on the shedloads of torque front. That's just a wrist breaker though, due to its size.

school, I was in heaven.

I still use a makita drill like the one in another post.
I break out the big boys when I need to drill bigger holes.
I used to use a home made treppaning tool to cut roll cage size holes, that keeps your mind focused. The big drill doesn't have a switch you switch
it at the mains.

My friend has an old Wolf drill in a drill press frame specially made for it and it is lethal, nothing stops it it will throw a 2 metre 50x3mm box section across the workshop if it jams.

i hope u run them through an rcd if there 240 volt. i got my apprenticeship because the poor lad before me got electrocuted using one of them 17 yerar old . a wagon ran the lead over cutting the earth wire and shorted down to the case end off .ive been lifted a few times of dodgy gear as well

the thing roofman shows a picture of is called sheen guns and they are still selling them new. seen are polish boy turning it up to quick and sparying the place with lit fuel.

we used to take the jet out and pump it right up then spray a 60ft thin flame

treat these old drills with respect,i still use mine v.occasionally,especially if my 'mag drills too fast such as c/sinking.ALWAYS use a long restraint handle .I have a motorbike handlebar on mine -go steady just before the bit breaks thru.

Not only tools, when I first started on site work scaffolding safety rails, toe boards & mesh were unknown. One village builder even had wooden scaffold poles, now there was an experience. Builders these days don't know they're born, lifts for this, hoists for that, everything used to go up on your shoulder.
Happy days though.

Used to work on a farm when i was a kid. The farmer had a flame thrower for burning the stubble, it was like a big bycle pump that you sucked petrol into then shot across the field, great fun until the wind changed
