pay my travel/bed and fill the nose bags and will be there by fridayHello all. new here. We installed a new roof in 2019. Last week the roof started to leak (close to the window) and water started to run into the inside.
The water leak was caused by an ice dam. The ice damn was removed by the company that installed the roof. This fixed the leaked and we were charged $1000 for the service. The roofing company claims this is not covered by warranty. Is this correct? Are ice dams automatically not covered by the warranty?
An ice/water shield was installed on the roof which should have prevented water from running into the inside of the building. Can it be that the ice/water shield was not installed properly?
Since the ice/water shield seems to be compromised I assume next winter water may again leak inside? Do we need to get the ice/water shield repaired? Can this easily be done?
The water also caused damage to the inside of the house which needs to be fixed. If the water leak was caused due to an incorrect installation of the ice/water guard is the roofing company liable for the damage? I do not plan to call our insurance since our deductible is $5000 and the cost to fix the damage is likely less.
