£100 for two bearings and two seals and they conveniently forget to mention you have to machine the housing out to make them fit.

There is no room to machine the existing housing, it is so thin. It's literally regrind or try lapping.

I would say most of the race is okay, and it's actually impact damage from the obviously harder rollers in about ¼ of the raceway.

The chassis is linebored after welding, these housings then bolt through the chassis from what Peter was explaining.

Beautifully made. Must of been absolutely no expense spared in its manufacture.

Yes, no expense spared, and they made at least 3 million of them (DS production ran to just over 1.5 million cars).

I asked at my friendly DS specialist today. Every single one he has seen has polishing marks, some have troughs, few are like mine with troughs and pitting.
The amount of angular movement of the bearing is so small, the rollers hardly move. Needle rollers or a solid bush would have been better.

And then they closed the M25 so my 35 minute journey home took nearly four hours. An oil spill after a crash, the carriageway had to be resurfaced.

Possibly, but certainly not with 'skill set'. I'm still exploring various options. No great rush, I'm six years into this restoration, another couple to go.
