I’m going to be rubbing down The Buick over winter so I’m looking for a sander, I’ve got a 23 cfm compressor so I could go with air powered? Or should I look for 240v?
If you have a big compressor like that it will run an air powered da all day long, plenty out there, Chicago pneumatic, Kestrel are what i have, Sealey are good too. You will burn more electric running the compressor all day.
Current electric DA i have is a Sealey & its pretty good, remains to be seen if it lasts the 35 years its ER150 Sealey did!
i have a few compressed air da both made in japan. had them donkeys years just 3 drops of oil before and after use ive seen them identical made in japan and go under the guise of sealey and other makes
I've both and the 6 inch air one takes a 3hp compressor running flat out to feed it.
The (better in every way) Mirka electric sander is 250w.
Go figure.
Electric DA's are really good, depending on what you get they are usefull for wood sanding and decorating prep as well. I use large and small Metabo, Makita and Bosch sanders all the time, they last for years. The metabo has sealed bearings and can do wet and dry, they can all be attached to a shop vac to catch 'most' of the dust.
Never used an air DA.
Mirka electric DA is an absolute pleasure to use compared to all others I have used, small, powerful and doesn't freeze your hands. But quite expensive
