I bought this :-
in November 2019, and it's been in bits spread across the Workmate and shop floor for most of 2020 and 2021. I haven't really been in a rush to do anything, just a bit here and there when I'm in. Most of the work has been cosmetic, it was pretty mucky and took a lot of cleaning but it came out OK in the end :-
I was only intending to do an oily rag restoration but by the time I had got the engrained grit and dirt off, there wasn't really that much paint left to run an oily rag over
It's two colours because I couldn't make my mind up - I have a RAL colour swatch but the paint was so patchy and variable it was difficult to really chose the correct colour ( I think it was originally RAL5004 - Black Blue which you can see in the top right of the before picture but there were patches where it looked Silver Grey - RAL7001 so I bought both).
The paint job's not brilliant, I should have spent a bit more time rubbing it down and you can see the weld penetration for the transformer mounting plates on the top so a bit of grinding back would probably have made a bit of a difference but I'm quite happy with it for what it is. I certainly got out of it what I wanted - a good useable welder.
Costs were about £270 - that includes the purchase price, paint, new oil and PCB test (It's oil - very dirty oil but it's still oil ).
Labour of love so I didn't charge
