Well it's this ordering it bit that gets me... Where are they ordering it from so I could go and get it.....CY is a bit specialist, having a copper braid mainly used in machine wiring.
ware as SY is what most of the electrical wholesalers will stock, being steel braided and a much more general purpose cable.
Most places should be able to order it for you though, if they are feeling helpful.
I can get RS next day free delivery so yes it's within driving distance. But it's only sold in full reels. 64 quid plus fuel.Around hear (North east) most electrical wholesalers get their cable from Cleveland cable so I would imagine every area has their own specialist wholesaler.
The problem is finding them, one other option do you have a local RS trade counter they may carry stock:
I sort of understand if they had at least one full drum locally and only cut stuff from one warehouse BUT the free delivery and 50 quid flies in the face of that as 10 ,20 or even 30 metres should be no where near that.CEF are next day delivery, free if you're over £50 too. Most people are happy with next day, therefore they can centralise less used stock to one warehouse and save costs overall rather than having part cut drums of the stuff in branches all over the country multiplying their costs hundred fold.
Cleveland cable will stock it. they supply all the wholesalers in the country on every type of cable madeWell it's this ordering it bit that gets me... Where are they ordering it from so I could go and get it.....
I get places like Screwfix and Tool station and B and Q don't carry it in stock but a trade supplier like CEF or Dennmans to not even have a Roll seems lunacy....I can even accept they want cut rolls lying around but.....how does business manage now in the UK.?
Problem is its not just one full reel of cable is it CY comes in around 40 variations when you look at conductor size or core number, what do you decide to stock. One man's popular size is some else's never use size.I sort of understand if they had at least one full drum locally and only cut stuff from one warehouse BUT the free delivery and 50 quid flies in the face of that as 10 ,20 or even 30 metres should be no where near that.
Yeah fair comment....trying to find if I need 4 core plus earth of 5 core plus earth is proving harder than buying the damn stuff. Some say 0.5 is fine others say 0.75 is fine.Problem is its not just one full reel of cable is it CY comes in around 40 variations when you look at conductor size or core number, what do you decide to stock. Yeah it's the 50 metres of something I am not sure is what I need when I am trying to stock up of food for the forthcoming lockdown that prevented me hitting the button.RS do 50M and 100m drums of some stuff. Usually called liycy, otherwise its an order in item at wholesalers
I wasn't using Mach3 I am using GBRL and was using Arduino Nano till my wife broke it. Tried the UNO route as I had all the stuff but ended up with the PI route.Built a couple of CNC machines with UCCNC and they work perfectly. So much nicer and more reliable than mach3
I originally thought this. But the license I think was £30 on offer. And the hardware is now pretty cheap with the AXBB. Think of it as a cost of the hardware that comes with a license. He did it that way because you can use Mach with some of his hardware. Plus tying it to hardware makes it harder to fake/clone.UCCNC sounds good but it ain't cheap and tying the software to a specific board is just plain naughty IMHO.
I purchased a second hand ooznest ox.What is it you are building, something small I guess with 0.5mm, are you expecting lots of local interference?
