Sounds like a Sjogren speed chuck. I have one on my lathe they are wonderful things. My ex colleagues in the University workshop kept the collet chuck and collet set as there is a newer lathe there with a d1-3 spindle nose. It was different in that it didn’t use a draw bar as there was a screw ring in the chuck that was key and bevel gear operated like the scroll on a three jaw. I assume it was originally supplied with the lathe. I have cobbled together a d1-3 to ER32 as I already had a set of collets. So useful.
Well it certainly looks like the real McCoy to me. Lucky so & so!no way! what luck, it was just listed as a 5c collet chuck, I paid £80
Looking forward to see that work!Don't need no steeeenkin' broaches anymore...
Oh WOW you can broach them for me too?Don't need no steeeenkin' broaches anymore...
I actually really like EN8, bonded with it on some axles for motorcycles. I'm using CNMG120408 with the stainless treatment on it, taking big bites and feeding fast at 795rpm is giving some nice surfaces.Well, it's not finished but it's close to it. Got the controls, DRO and oiling points to do yet. I'll probably be finished before you're done carving that EN8, you're gonna wish you bought EN1 pretty soon.
Oh, That's rubbing the salt in .... I have an Aciera F4 mill & an Aciera F4 slotting attachment bought some time later at auction.Don't need no steeeenkin' broaches anymore...
