The effect would be that the drive flanges on the transfer box and the front axle would rarely ever be parallel, in phase or even at the same distance to one another (though the splined telescopic section would deal with that) except when driving straight forward/back on perfectly flat ground. In this case a simple double universal joint would surely bind up?Try Audi Quattro Approx 86.

Can't you just ditch their splined shaft and replace it with a cheap and easy to come by cv joint and shaft of a car in a scrapyard, even possibly changing both ends to vw golf for instance
pel job are something to do with volvo, so possibly look at something from the volvo range.
I guess the other issue is there is a world of difference in a driveshaft powering one wheel on a car and shaft powering a complete axle on a dumper. I'm sure there is a solution out there.
