Yes they are single skin and about 3mm thick, Ive cut up a few with oxy propane and its a good days work.
The tricky parts are the top edges and the door frame/s areas as these are allot thicker and awkward profiles which also have overlap of material, So its better to nip through theses with a stihl or 9" grinder.

I can cut just as quick with oxy fuel as with a plasma most of the time.
The problems your going to have with a plasma is the paint/rust throwing the arc back on to the tip wearing it out quickly, But I reckon if you persevere you would manage the job.
But make sure you give the machine a rest because its allot of cutting and the duty cycle will be hit fairly soon.

Hi,
first thought was an air-chisel...but the metal may be a bit thick.
Is there anything sharp that can attach to a JCB-type of beast and slice through 4mm steel?
Next thought is if the steel's worth £1000 as scrap and you can buy them at £400 (maybe less if it's a damaged one?) there's a bit of money to be made there if you can figure an easy/cheap way of doing the job.

i find it hard to believe if the steel is worth £1000 that there is any to be had as the selling company would be cutting them up faster than they could off load them

cut the thin stuff out with plasma into 7 foot squares and then do the frame & thick bits with a wizzer .
Or
Tell the farmer that there may be a gypsy you know coming to cut up the container for scrap ..of course you can have first call on it for £500 ..the scrap value is almost twice that. etc etc.

farmers are as tight as a cammels a ./.sse in.a sandstorm he dont need to offer anything for it as he knows it will be a pig to get rid of it

must admit, if it were me I would be tempted to try & sell it..... & if that failed give it away on the understanding they collect.
As for the farmer... well, i'll only get into trouble so i will restrain myself....
seems too much like hard work for too little return to me (once you factor in cutting kit & time etc)

hiya,
these companines that do container conversions use plasma on the side corrugations (2.5mm thick corten steel), and 9" angle grinders on the top beams. the base is usually 32 mm thick marine ply and is bolted down but can be a pain to get out, usefull pieces of timber if you have a use, if not a pain to get rid off!!!
a company like S JOnes Containers in Walsall would buy it from you (they sell a used 40 ft for £1250, im guessing would buy at 600.00 ) and collect - the provision is that the container is near good hard standing ground(otherwise the hiab gets stuck), a lot of these containershave been pulled or pushed by a tractor or something at some stage so makes collection a pain.

Any news tigler?
I'm after a container myself and whilst it would break my heart to cut it up I've got oxy-acetylene kit in Hereford that you could have the use of if you're stuck.

Had a slight setback. I thought I sorted a small workshop / storage space at an affordable price, which I was going to move the stuff from the container into. It's fallen through !! So I need to find another suitable space and until I do I'm stuck in the container
