I think gauging how the neighbours are going to be is the key with this one. The reasons I asked this is the more chilled neighbours on one side had complained to me about the older (more intense neighbour ) the other side of me using power tools a lot. They have a young child and I think are having troubles with sleep. Maybe I'll have to mention it more to the younger neighbours and plough on where the older neighbours are considered.

Regarding the Garage instead of a Tent situation. I dont have the money to do that at the moment and I'm unlikely too for a few years easily. Also There are a few drains running along the end so building anything perminate while the older neighbours are being so eagle eyed will probably be a problem as they are against me doing anything like that in the garden. I'm not an idiot though so will be respectful of all this. Its just a bit of background on why I'm not waiting for a Garage. I cant let it stop me doing anything though at the same time. Will all be in moderation.

The Car is probably about 30 meters from the nearest socket at the moment. I've not really looked into that kind of armoured cabling but I guess I could do a garden extension? I'd have to work on the ground a bit as the car is on the **** slightly in the tent and I should probably throw some Slabs down too as the floor is currently plastic sheeting.

Took wise I'll have a good think as I'm probably in the market for just the Angle Grinder and Power file at the moment. I keep seeing Die Grinders too but can't find a good video on them? would this be more useful than a decent angle grinder regarding Car body work?

It's always a tight rope but you shouldn't allow other people's issues to affect you--to go about your lawful activities.

IMO for some time we live in a world where children are used as weapons both against parents and by them and against others who just want to get on with their lives--do their thing.

For auto body repairs most of the corded tools you may acquire are not going to be amp sucking beasts.

Personally at 30m consider buying or making up a 2 socket extension cable reel, It's not ideal, not that length but I can't envisage to much of an issue for low powered corded tools connected to an internal socket. Depending on you existing CU set up and protective devices/fuses, consider using an RCD, ( if using a standard 3 pin socket ), on the end of the extension cable.

Many of the ready made extension cables will be PVC 1.5mm size, this is the barest minimum size, not great at all but you should be ok, better still would be 1.5mm rubber or Blue Artic cable, fully unwound and cable off the ground--better still would be 2.5mm cable.

Better again and a more permanent solution would be to install surface mounted 4mm or 6mm SWA cable but that is a different setup and budget.

As a temporary solution I can't see an issue with the use of a 30m extension cable.

Die Grinder or Grinder?---both, consider a 3 inch grinder.

If you want a cordless grinder for bodywork, these Milwaukee M12 cut-off tools are great (get a few 6ah batteries too).

I also bought 3 Aldi cordless 40v grinders, really impressed with those.

Noise wise you need to be sensible really. I did 2 hours a night and tried to finish 8pm, Sundays I'd try and do quieter jobs.

Angle grinding a car shell is problematic as they whole car acts as a loud speaker.

I would have loved a set of metal shears as shown above, the do look really handy.

If you want a reasonable cost extension lead a caravan hook up lead might be the way to go as they are rated at 16A. You could put a waterproof socket on the outside of the house and run a few tools of that.

the garden appears to be 25-30ft

as the mrs isnt going to walk far with washing and there on the line outside

as above can be run x2 as i have that connection type and it works well enough for a plasma and air compressor

A note on cordless - grinders are hungry beasts and you might find that the number of batteries limits how long you can actually make noise for before a recharging break is required anyway.

While cordless is the way to go if you need power down there on a temporary basis a 30m extension on a reel is a manageable solution to wind/unwind each day. But the price of once will set you back the cost of a spare battery!

I'd agree with this.

My brushless Makita Grinder will drain 2 fully charged 5ah batteries before the 3rd one has recharged itself. I really need to invest in a double charger and an extra battery but the other part of me thinks I'd be better off getting a couple of corded ones so I n longer have that issue and I can stop having to keep swapping discs

battery tools are handy if you need to use them where power is an issue

im not buying 4 batterys just for that tool its fine if your using other tools that are supplied with the same battery

the building trade chews through batterys for fun

better to use corded but you also need to stop often with those tools

vibration on your arms and wrists will get to them so i tend to use for 15 mins

there is also cool down of the tool they do get hot 5-10 mins its your choice ive burnt through grinders for fun grinding pointing out kills a grinder as the bearings get destroyed with them
