Cutting glass

Got some glass cut for a single glazed frame however a couple are too big by a mm or so (measure twice cut once).
I have a cutter but is there a way to shave a fraction off the edge when a cutter won't work?

Polydisk/flap disk in a grinder.

It can be hit and miss. If there's a fracture it might go.

Keep the heat input to a minimum. Wear goggles

No was to score and snap unfortunately but shave it to a score line

Clean, new course oil stone.
Will take a mm or 2 off easily. Keep it lubricated with water.

Yes similar, I just made the mistake of measuring up a couple of panes and assuming they were all the same .
So it may be back to the merchant watching him slide the ruler under to cut if the shaving doesn't work.

Done it plenty of time. Cut the glass for a sash and it doesn't quite snap cleanly. Don't go at it like your stripping paint from metal. Light pressure and keep it cool.

use glass pliers and nibble it off. its time consuming mind. can be done with ordinary pliers as well

If it is that close could you open the aperture in the woodwork a bit? Less risky than trying to cut the glass.

the glass will be set in so plenty of overlap you can nibble the edgeoff a few mill of dead easy with a decent set of pliers . nibble tiles the same way

Clamp a bit of ply on top and use a top bearing cutter.
This was to clean out old putty but had to widen a few for the double glazing. Company that supplied it seemed to have trouble with a tape measure. :/
