Cutting Aluminium

I notice in your advise page on aluminium Malc, you mention that a grinder wont cut aluminium very well....You can get discs especially for cutting aluminum, but theyre slightly dearer than a normal disc.

If you want to cut larger sections, or grind aluminium, just use a STONE disc :idea: they dont clog up with the aluminium.

I have cut alloy wheels around the circumfrence many a time with a stone disc.

I have been reading this post and others about sceptism of cutting ally with an angle grinder. Well I did it today,using a stone disc like Hitch has mentioned. There's this type of stone disc

I didn't use this type,but this type

Works just fine. From what I have also read,is that plenty of lubrication needs to be used,and 3-in-1 oil will do the job

Yes, definatly the abrasive type as opposed to the segmented diamond one.
I doubt very much if oil makes any difference when using abrasive wheels.

A fair few of the big makers now do discs specifically designed for ally.

Ashish, you're better off starting a new thread rather than asking a question like yours in a thread on a completely different subject, it's more likely to get noticed but....no, CO2 is not really suitable for stainless.
Also, without meaning to sound rude, try the 'search' option at the top of the page, you'll find that many, many people have asked the same question and you'll find the reason why it's not suitable.

The link isn't working for me, but we always use the 1mm thick stainless discs from wurth or anchorfast with no problems.

Cutting Alloy

I put a negative rake saw blade in a ripsnorter and found it cuts alloy beautifully. I then did the same with a chop saw, I use that for angles and flats and the ripsnorter for sheet. If you clamp an angle on the sheet you can use it like a fence, I hope this helps.
