Yes after the first press of the button I took your advices and covered it in a rag, will post back on the contents but it still smelled fresh

Many years ago, a crew I was working with moved camps, couple of hundred clicks across the Libyan desert. It was summer time, circa 45 degrees and my digs were chosen to transport all the home made beer barrels.

One of which exploded covering the entire insides and all my posessions with stinky sticky (so called) beer.
It was such a bad brew anyway, you wouldnt want to drink it let alone wear it.

I used to have a pal who produced stuff like that, and seemed quite pleased with himself.

If you drink some of it, you should end up with a good clear out.

Average pressure in a beer keg is around 25psi but they can go up to 50psi.

Turn the keg upside down then you can press in the valve and let off the gas pressure without any stale beer coming out.

Then go back up the right way and take the valve out if you need to. Some have a big c clip holding them in place, some just need a good knock to start them unscrewing (normal right hand thread)

If you are opening them on a regular basis let me know and I can get the proper connectors and it only takes seconds to drain them.
Although they are expensive!

Alternatively if you have a few to do I can hire the tools out!
