The jigsaw is very underrated but does a great job. Quick, clean and quiet especially if you use the pendulum feature.

mine is as far as I know just a basic jigsaw, I'm now curious to know what this "pendulum feature" is ?

A pendulum jigsaw cuts with a backwards/forwards motion (reciprocates) and gives a smooth, clean cut with less effort. Most newer saws come with it.

ahhh, I think I understand so as well as going up and down the blade travels through a sort of shallow vertical elipse?

The blade draws back on the down stroke to help clear the cut. I find the function more useful when cutting thicker timber not thin metal and mine is not particularly quiet cutting metal sheet
The shear in your link is the business but they are expensive.
