Evening all, I got my (Ebay special) cut 50 pilot arc plasma out today to cut out a name plate on car body thickness steel, earth cleaned, new consumables fitted but the plasma would not keep an arc and would not cut very well and also kept putting a fault light on the front panel, after I switched it off for a moment I could re-start the m/c but when I tried to cut the arc was intermittent even before I got close to the work piece and the fault light came on stopping any arc at all. I tried this several times but always the same, i looked at the micro switch on the torch and where it couples into the front of the M/C and could not see any obvious fault only that the coupler to the front panel was not tight . I purchased it almost 2 years ago and it has had very little use. I have had this problem before but put it down to my lack of knowledge about plasma cutting, could it be that I need a new torch or might it be some other problem. I am not into any electronics so I am not taking it to bit but I may take to cover off just to see any thing obvious Thanks in advance for any info, Pud
