I had a look but its actually over 3 years ago, couldn't find it in my ebay history but i remember paying just under £200 and its a red one with a PT31 torch, probably not much help i'm afraid.

That will be because, allegedly, when you buy a container load of machines from China, they also supply 20% of spare parts free to cover all the breakdowns. So when the units are coming in at very low USD rates, machines under warranty just get replaced, no matter how minor the fault may be, as the guy selling them is making more than a healthy margin and can take a few hits.
Then I guess the faulty ones go for a punt on fleabay, and add a bit more icing to the cake
This is all purely speculation on my part of course

Yep thats the one, mine has been excellent and I use it a lot.
thanks for the reply i will be looking in to getting 1 its only for diy so if lucky it might be used twice a week or twice a month

why not fix them with the free parts
or give the new part as part of the sale of the faulty unit.

Because most of the people selling this type of machine do not have any idea whatsoever on how to repair them, or even how to hold a screwdriver come to that.
It's not cost effective, the labour involved would probably cost more than the nett cost of the machine itself.....
Cut 50
We bought a Cut 50 about a year ago for about £200 and it stopped working completely after about a week. We sent it back, and to be fair they fixed it and haven't really had any problems since. The components inside the torch sometimes come loose, you can hear them rattling around but just needs tightening every now and again. We use it with a cheap compressor bought from Aldi, other than making a lot of noise it works fine. Use them a couple of times a week for my business making weathervanes and farm signs, more often at busy times of year and havent had any problems other than what I already mentioned. So I'd reccomend the Cut 50 as long as you get it from a supplier who will be happy to sort out any problems.
