Curved hips

Once the ring rollers have been fixed i have a conservatory roof to make.

From what i have seen so far, its about 5mx4m, originally it was going to be a sort of inverted mansard style, but weve talked them out of that, and they are having one continuous curve now. Thats made it 10 times easier.

Majority of it is 50mm box.

Shouldnt be too hard.... he says

Anyone done anything similar?

Are they going to be using some sort of curved glass?

I think its going to be tiled. I assume plywooded then felted then tiled.

None of the steel will be visible.

Fixed now, it was a fuse apparently, 2amp

Bloke who uses it normally reckoned hed checked all the fuses!

Matey had a 4hr drive to us to change it!

How do you support the length, we have conical rests that go on ours, supposed to stop that happening....

There are vertical rollers which sit behind the bending rolls but they are next to useless at keeping it straight.

Hi,

there's a bit of work in there! Nice.

I don't mean this as a criticism but if you haven't got a copy of Irfanview then get one, it's free and it's great for quickly altering image sizes and 'tones'. For instance, it took less than a minute to copy these two images, go to 'image' then 'enhance colours' and tweak the 'brightness' up a bit. It makes a big difference.





It lets us see what you've been up to...

and what's at the back of your workshop! :-)

Is the roof supported at the ridge once it is installed. There will be a big load on it which may cause it to sag/spread?
Was expecting bigger section?

The back is fixed to a wall at various points, and the flatbar frame is screwed to the existing timberwork.Its not very big, only about 4.5m x 3.5m

And that was with flash jimmy Dark and dingy when the lights are off!

Easier to buy blasted and painted material if its going to be painted anyway.
Much cleaner to work with. And saves a lot of degreasing later on.
