Hi folks,
As if I don't have enough to be doing at the moment with work being busy and that time of the year approaching, I've bought a project.
I've thought about getting my eldest a tractor for several years as he's always loved them, and now the youngest is 22 months he is also tractor mad, with another on the way I'm sure it'll follow suit, the joys of my parents having a farm I suppose! Here's what she would have looked like new.
So, to the point of this thread, I've bought, very cheaply I may add, a rather well used MTD Cub Cadet 2135 lawn tractor. The bodywork is looking a bit sorry for itself, but seen as steel is what I do this isn't a problem, and having stripped it at the weekend with the elder boy, the chassis is in great condition with very little surface rust or rot at all.
The plan is to do away with the deck mountings as I don't have it and will never use it, take off anything that isn't needed and then the rebuild can start.
I was thinking just one seat, but having tried to drive it with the eldest on my lap I think 2 seats may be best as there's plenty of room, also need to build a trailer for them, and then all the rear metalwork needs renewed as its shot. Thankfully the bonnet and side panels look OK. The grill may need remaking as it's been bent, but a frame and some mesh should sort that.
So, stay tuned for more updates, it's an evenings, weekends and dead time kind of project so won't be happening at any great speed I don't think. I'd like it done for their birthday's mid to the end of Feb, and no.3 is due just after that all being well.
Cheers
