Another job I've done yesterday/today is repair the cross slide screw mount on a little Naerok 9x18 lathe I got. The original mount is some die cast rubbish and has snapped at the base. I don't know what the material is but I hit it with the tig and got fireworks, tried it with a mapp gas torch and had little silver beads pop out of the surface. In the end I opted to make a new mount.
I milled the mount out of a piece of anodised ally, an old wall-mount for a monitor, then turned a piece of steel to make the dial support, cut a mark in it for the dial graduations and then pressed the two together with some red loctite to hold it in.
Old broken part is on top of the saddle in the pic, new part fitted and working.
