I agree, looks like a modded drill base/stand. Use it for light press work.

I've done a similar thing to the floor mount pillar drill they use in Second Ops. Using the drill as a light press, they shagged up the rack and pinion arraingement. So i took off the complete head and welded a bracket directly to the pillar to take a toggle press. For what they use it for, (punching holes in flexible mouldings) I think it works better.

there is a V block on ebay for a tenner at the moment, as an example of what you can get . i could not do without my fly presses simple as that. punching, sheet bending, forming (have made up a few tools for forming the ends of tube) i have 2 little no.4s set up just for bearings. for bigger jobs i rent tools in a larger shop by the hour, presses are about £20 an hour if i operate them which i want to do anyway, i bring my miller modular welder in the van with me, its why i bought it really.

I stored one in FILs garage for a bit, a Sweeny Blockside.. Nice little machine for the garage, on its proper stand aswell.
Apparently he had a clear out and forgot it was mine and gave it away
