Hi All !
I find myself confronted with a very tight crank pulley bolt (mitsubishi car). A breaker bar and decent length of pipe is showing no signs of cracking it loose. That's with the car in gear and a helper applying the brakes to provide the reaction torque - which has worked well for me on two other similar engines.
Is an impact wrench a good next step ? There's some folklore out there that it can do some harm to the bearing shells but .....
If an impact wrench is the way to go, is it better/worse/doesn't matter to leave the car in gear ?
Thanks as always.
