id look into bracing the turbo like you see on high spec cossies etc.. so it takes the weight of the turbo off the manifold.any fabricator/welder will be able to weld it, id just recomend finding a good one because its more hastle having to take the manifold off if it cracks again.

Be interesting to hear a metallurgists view on this Al (or anyone else). Turbine exhaust housings for petrol engines are usually cast from a Ni-resist alloy or something similar FWIW. Cracked 304L manifolds are pretty common but then most (mass produced at least) ones aren't particularly well made- i've got some DPI pics of a particularly bad example if anyones interested. Always tends to be long runner designs that suffer in my (limited) experience
Personally i'm a fan of bracing turbos, ONLY if done along the lines of 'Cosworth turbo dampers' though as they incorperate rose joints to allow some movement with thermal expansion/contraction. IIRC Cosworth only used turbo dampers on long runner designs and the primary reason was to dampen resonance that came with the long runners
321 stainless is a common alloy used for piston engined aircraft AFAIK but (cost aside) it's not the easiest stuff to get a hold of, especially in pre formed mandrel bends. Still, a lot cheaper and easier to work with than inconel
Been helping a mate map his car tonight timing was quite retarded when we started and we were seeing EGTs upto 820C initially, dropped back to around 730C as i advanced the timing but we've a way to go yet- i don't posess enough eye's to take in all the info from the various windows, full on track suspension doesn't help! How this would relate to actual manifold tamp is another question, obviously a wrapped manifold (as his is) is going to run hotter than an unwrapped example. The amount of room in the engine bay has got to effect things a bit, not much in this case as he's stuck a skyline lump in an 200SX
