a thousand quid for 2walls 4 meters long . all he did was knock the plaster off. a coat of tanking slurry half pasted on using water an undercoat plaster then top coat and that was it
I asked him if he had drilled and injected with damp proof cream and used sbr bonding agent in the slurry and he bull s h ,,,ed his way out of it 
I have damp proofed 2 houses properly as the builder I worked for was a sovereign approved installer and showed me how . its not rocket science

he has the other side to tile and the wall is like a dogs hind leg

going to watch with interestI usually try and do most things myself, I was doing my bathroom, put floor down, shower tray in, walls moved, all the first fix plumbing done, I thought I would get a tiler in as the tiles were expensive, I asked the guy in the shop who I bought the tiles off if he could get Me a tiler and explained it had to be his best tiler, the guy turned up and first thing he said was have you got a spirit level mate, I’ve left mine at home, anyway he started and I had two pipes sticking out the wall for my radiator, he decided to cut too large slots out the tile, I come in and said that looks awful and asked why he didn’t drill two holes for pipes to come through, he said “ I guarantee once everything’s grouted up you’ll not see it” I told him to take it back off and he said if you want holes he’d have to get the holes waterjet cut, I went to screwfix and bought a diamond holesaw for about £12 which he had never seen before, When he started putting the mosaics up he used tile spacers and there was only the gap where the spacers were, I had to get him to take them off and had to go and get sticky plastic mesh for the back of them which he had never heard about, anyway he got finished and gave me a bill for £18 a square meter although I was told £15, I said to him It was £15 and he said no that’s for small tiles, he then said their was 28 square meters, I gave him a piece of paper with My calculations which was 24 square meters, I was never as glad to get rid of the guy but to top it off He lifted My spirit level and holesaw, when I phoned the tile supplier he said “yes the apprentice lifted them by accident” and it taken Me about three weeks to get them back...

Gf hired a "professional" decorator.[1]
She now knows "professional" means "getting paid" not "good" :-(
As much paint on the laminate floor as on the walls.
As much gloss on the walls as on the trim.
Three days with the scraper and sander to get rid of the drips off the doors - longer than it took to repaint afterwards!
[1] "I do gardens as well" - in hindsight, should have illuminated warning signs.

You should see some of the hilarious examples of workmanship in my house. I'm slowly rectifying them but 140 years of bodge takes a while to sort
Here's my old loft hatch, came in to this last week, MDF and screwed straight into the edge, pulled straight out, I'm just glad we were out.
Done a good job there lads.
Yep, that's definitely the most aesthetically pleasing way to run those nasty microbore pipes. (Carpet in dire need of replacement!)
No comment, haven't had the balls to investigate this monstrosity yet.
I could go on all day!

Yep that seems to be more like it. We are negotiating a tiler at the moment. One of the final jobs in a year long slog. Thankfully haven’t seen the quality workmanship like in these posts.!

The previous owner was an "Electrician" and work at the Nuc/power station down the road.....

There is no bigger bunch of cowboys than Colchester council housing repair . My Mrs and I live in a council house. I appreciate these ol gaffs are in dia need of major repair works. Some i have done myself. These pictures below are some of there so called works. Shocking .

The pictures are a recent rewire. Loads on electric cable just sit on the floor under kitchen cabinets. We had a washing machine flood the other day. Bathroom was replaced about six months ago. Walls cracking. The list goes on

Thats the problem in these trades.
Lots of customers have no idea what things cost and look at you as if your ripping them off.
That opens the door to Mr Bodgit and his apprentice Master Scarper.
When im quoting some jobs il break my materials down for the customer.
Helps them see where the moneys going. Found it helps secure the work.
Especally when materials equate to twice or more the labour costs.
