I have started printing some repeat parts on my Prusa Mk3s+ and they have worked as good as I could have expected them to. They work well enough to offer them to my colleagues if they would like to use them but I want to at least cover my costs.
They are only small parts but you need quite a few for them to work - a minimum of 8 but possibly up to 30+ (possibly as high as 120).
The prusa slicer is giving me a filliment price of 28p each, but what are the other costs involved? Obviously electricity needs to be considered, plus cost of the machine and consumables.
Each item takes about 45 minutes to make.
I am not really trying to make money, but it will soon become tedious if I start printing 100s of the parts and I am not at least covering costs. Also do I add a bit to cover some of the outlay on the machine (about £800)?
I think the PSU is 240w, so at maximum power 1kWh would produduce 5 pieces, but I wouldn't expect it to be taking full power when printing.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Many thanks.
Mick
