£12k just for that front scaffold?!!I'm slightly skeptical that's 13m to the highest point on the roof. Our house is 12m to the underside of the soffits at the peak of the gable at the front of the house. Ground and first floor are 15ft ceilings internally.

If it is genuinely 13m then I doubt you'll find someone willing to do it without scaffolding. The eaves at the front of our house are 8m and with my big double ladder (in two pieces within the scaffold) even for me who doesn't care about heights it's sketchy as hell.
The only reason I bring it up is because if it is 13m then scaffolding will be a significant cost. When we had the front repointed it was circa £12k for the scaffold. It was here for quite a while but because the scaffolders screwed us around setting it up 3 months late we only got charged for the 6 week minimum period.
That isn't the front in the picture. The scaffold in the picture is mine and put up with the bare minimum in terms of lifts etc. The front had 5 lifts on it I think, each lift was wider, there were two buttresses sticking out the front to support it and it wrapped around the other side of the house a good 8m or so (again to full height).£12k just for that front scaffold?!!I appreciate different areas have different rates but I'm shocked at that, that's insanely expensive! Probably only 3 and a half grand worth of scaffold there. I need to put my prices up
! Are you somewhere remote?
What would you exspect to pay for someone to paint the gabel ends, they will need sanding and priming. Its 13m at the highest point, looking for a ball park figure, assuming not using scafolding.
Thanks.
I said a grand plus materials and consumables when I saw your pics. So not far off hisIts just the wood at the ends, I have a quote to do it off a ladder (£1275 cash), I measured the height with a lazer, the picture is deceptive, the front door is huge and so are the windows. just though it was a bit expensive, but need it doing, and we struggeled to find anyone to even give us a quote with or with out scafolding. it was done by a guy of a ladder when we moved in.
He was recommended by the roofer we use, if he choose's the way to do a job i dont see how it can be my liability if he does somthing wrong? I contract my self and the insurace was to protect my self? or am i missing somthing. Is a ladder the most appropriate method? Best checking the guy doing it has the appropriate insurances & risk assessments etc in place before commencing. Is he a competent contractor?
Otherwise the cheap guy taking cash and working off a ladder could be trying to sue you if something goes wrong.

We have loads of work done on the roof off ladders with no issues.
get the ladder out!I once did a "sand and repaint" of all our wooden bargeboards, facias & soffits from up a ladder... just the once...
But I was 33 and invincibleand in the 35 yrs since then I've watched too many YouTubes / Emergency Hospital / Helicopter / Paramedic tv programs with people who fell off a ladder...
needs doing again really...
Well, I did go up the ladder to the gable-end during the high winds last autumn, to grab the end ridge-tile which the wind had lifted up/off... (to catch it before it came crashing down...get the ladder out!
