Hi Guys. Im new to all this, so here goes with my 1st post!

Is the Cosmo 145 gas/gasless any good? If not, what would you recommend without paying silly money?

SIP/Cosmo DIY machines (same machines, different branding) don't have a good reputation on this forum, mostly due to wire-feed problems. I certainly wouldn't buy another following my experience with my SIP 130T and those of other SIP/Cosmo owners. Clarke have a good reputation here for a DIY MIG that will do the job with no fuss.

Thanks for the replies. Im just looking at doing basic DIY work, nothing major. I`d thought about buying a cheap arc welder 1st then move onto a mig later. Any suggestions before I go out and blow my money on the wrong thing?

It very much depends on what sort of work you have in mind for it. Some jobs are more suitable for arc, some more suitable for MIG and some jobs can be done happilly with either.
