Im just curious if anyone has any theories on this.....
Past couple days, my 'L reg' Corsa 1.5TD started fine in the mornings, but the battery just seemed a little sluggish in doing so. I thought it cant hurt to whack the battery on charge overnight (using an optimate).
Next morning battery came up looking fine and charged. Connected it to the car. Got in and heard a constant clicking relay from somewhere behind the dash, before even putting the key in. Clicking would stop after about a minute. All electrics seemed to be working fine. Put in the key, turned it and absolutely nothing, no dimming of any lights indicating it was even trying. Seemed like no power to the switch at all.
Consulting a mechanic, he suggested possibly an immobiliser that the previous owner had not told me about or given a fob, which has reactivated since putting battery back on. Sounds like a logical possibility.
A day later, I have beeon out to the car, turned the key and vroom! Stupid thing now acts as though there has never been a problem.
Im not complaining now thats its working fine, just curious as to what has occured.
Being an 'L reg' its not a highly sophisticated technologically advanced machine like most cars nowadays. I dont know how sophisticated the ECU is, if it has one.
Anyone come across this, or can shed some light?
Cheers guys
